This really tickled me – a great idea from Iain at Amnesia.

He’s managed to get Coke and Pepsi talking to each other on twitter.

The idea works on so many levels, but above all, it demonstrates marketing maturity from both brands.

Holding out a hand to your rival is a great way to demonstrate a strong brand personality and a responsible social attitude.

And it’s doing wonders for PR and conversations too…

    there is smell of rivalry in this gesture….both brands know that they cant keep their audience excited n engaged if they dont fight…..these things trigger the consumer’s interest and keep them on top of their mind. This phenomena is for decades and this creates huge barrier for new entrants. So, both parties win. the strategy works, isn’t it. 🙂

    Spot on Rashmi – it’s a very astute move from both brands. This activity may not succeed in switching people from one brand to the other, but it should help to strengthen their existing relationships, which will benefit both brands in the longer term.
