It works very well, I used fring for a while which offers similar basic functionality – but being an official SkyPe app this integrates much better, allowing you to see account balance, phone book etc etc
At the moment you can only make calls when you are connected to the internet via WiFi (I guess this is a demand from the Phone companies), although rumour has it that on iPhones with the 3.0 beta OS you can make calls over a 3G connection
